ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - After two decades on St. Paul's Grand Avenue, Wild Onion will close its doors on March 31.
Owner Jay Salmen said that while they're "proud and grateful," it is now time for a change.
Luke Shimp, local owner of Red Cow and Red Rabbit restaurants plans to turn the location into the Twin Cities' second Red Rabbit location.
As a way of showing their thanks and appreciation to the community, Wild Onion plans to offer weekly food and drink specials until the restaurant closes March 31.
According to a release, Shimp plans to make interior upgrades and enhancements to the kitchen to fit the Red Rabbit menu. This includes adding a wood fire grill and wood fire pizza oven. The new restaurant will keep the patio and outdoor fireplace, as well as the sidewalk seating along Grand Avenue.
