Fort Snelling National Cemetery is home to the largest Memorial Day ceremony in Minnesota every year, with more than 220,000 service members buried there.

Memorial Day is time set aside to remember those who have fallen, but Sen. Amy Klobuchar announced Monday at the ceremony she wants to focus more on the living by co-sponsoring a bill to help those exposed to toxic burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan.

At the end of the day organizers thanked the hundreds of volunteers it takes to place flags on the many graves, stating it takes up to 10 months to plan the event out.
