HOPKINS, Minn. (KMSP) - A Hopkins brewery is making their voice heard in the debate over the current statewide ban on Sunday liquor sales.
The LTD brewery putting out a new “Sunday Sales Pale Ale,” with all proceeds from the brew going towards efforts to overturn the decade’s long sales ban.
“As a consumer I’ve kind of always had the same opinion about it myself, I like others things besides beer,” said LTD part-owner Blake Verdon.
Verdon was joined by dozens of patrons and even state lawmakers who all gathered in hopes of building support to overturn the law this legislative session. Currently, growler sales are not part of the ban and as a result Verdon sees his business go up on Sunday’s. Dissolving the ban would likely cut into LTD’s sales, but Verdon says as a consumer, it’s the right thing to do.
“Hopefully it(the ban) will change in our lifetime, hopefully it will change this year,” said Verdon.
