It's about to get even colder before we start to warm

- It has been a cold couple of days capped off by this frigid morning where temperatures were below zero in many locations.  Unfortunately, it’s about to get even colder.  Winds right now are out of the north ushering in a truly arctic air mass, and the air to our north is even colder than what we are seeing now.  Check out Thursday morning’s lows from Minnesota all the way to the arctic…

Temperatures across the area are well below zero in most cases with some spots in excess of 30 below.  Well with a northerly wind, Minnesota is pulling in that even colder air to our north.  Thursday morning we already had our chilly air mass in place with a Canadian high pressure in control…

But a cold front will push across the area Friday allowing the next surge of arctic air head southeastward…

Winds will be out of the north and northwest through the weekend, until finally the pattern starts to change early next week.  Westerly winds will develop across the Upper Midwest, and a return to more seasonable conditions can be expected…
