76-year-old woman killed by car running stop sign in Minneapolis

A 76-year-old woman was killed when a speeding car ran a stop sign in a south Minneapolis neighborhood Tuesday afternoon. 

The accident took place at approximately 3:25 p.m. at E. 24th Street and 15th Avenue S. The woman, who has yet to be identified, was driving through the intersection when she was hit by another car that ran the stop sign. The two young men inside the car fled on foot up 15th Avenue, but were detained a short time later.

Minneapolis police said two men were detained, but not arrested. No charges have been filed.
