SOUTH BEND TOWNSHIP, Minn. (FOX 9) - A 76-year-old woman who was assaulted inside her home near Mankato, Minnesota Saturday has died.
The victim has been identified as Everly Adams. Her death is being investigated as a murder.
According to the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office, Adams called 911 Saturday night to report she had been physically assaulted inside her home on Union Street in South Bend Township. Another caller had previously reported seeing a person fleeing Adams' home around 10:53 p.m.
Adams was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition. She later died.
The sheriff's office said the suspect took measures to conceal his identity. He fled on foot prior before deputies arrived, but is believed to be associated with a sport utility-style vehicle seen leaving the area by a witness.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the murder. Anyone with information is asked to contact Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office dispatch at 507-304-4863.
