Teen gets 90 days probation for attacking St. Paul Central teacher

- A 16-year-old St. Paul boy was sentenced Tuesday to 90 days of probation and electronic home monitoring for attacking a teacher last month at Central High School. The teacher suffered a traumatic brain injury after he was slammed into a concrete wall while attempting to break up a fight in the school’s cafeteria on Dec. 4.

The student must undergo anger management therapy and complete 150 hours of community service. Prosecutors wanted him to be placed in residential treatment program for anger management, but a Ramsey County judge disagreed.

"While we respect the decision of the court, we advocated for placement in a residential treatment facility to address the respondent's anger management issues in recognition of the significant impact his violent actions had on the individual victims, school staff, students and our community as a whole," the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office said in a statement. “We hope the path the judge has laid out will provide the juvenile the help he needs so his behavior is never repeated."
