Dismal snowpack could lead to a brown Christmas for many

- Some of us finally received enough snow for it to stick around for more than a few hours.  The metro unfortunately was not included in the “lucky” part of our last storm as the majority of our precipitation fell as rain, but at least northern and western Minnesota were cold enough for a few inches of fluff.  Here’s where the snow ended up…

On a line north and west from Sioux Falls, to St. Cloud to Hinckley is where the snow ended up sticking.  And while some barely received more than a coating, others managed upwards of 6 inches.  The problem though will be keeping the snow around through Christmas.  After a cold Friday and chilly Saturday, temperatures head back well above average on Sunday and could stay there through much of next week as another ridge builds across the eastern two thirds of the U.S.  Just look at the jet stream forecast over the next few days as warm air pushes all the way to Canada…
