APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (KMSP) - There’s no question that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is one of the most hyped movies ever, poised to shatter all kinds of box office records. Even at the Imax Theater in Apple Valley on Thursday, two fans got married before the big premiere.
Anthony Nygren and Meg Thompson exchanged vows fit for a rebel fighter – in front of several hundred movie goers -- “I promise to love you faithfully like Chewbacca to your Han Solo.”
It’s a wedding they only had one week to prepare for since they won it in a KDWB radio contest -- “He submitted real quick and they picked us. So they were like, ‘how about next Thursday?’”
And while she agreed to marry her sweetheart ahead of the big movie premiere, Meg admitted she wasn’t always a Star Wars fan – “No but I love it. It’s such a fun story, and I love him so… it’s perfect.”
Anthony on the other hand said, “She knew what she was getting into when she started dating me.”
While the bride didn’t mimic the famous Star Wars princess for her big day, Princess Leia was by her side as a bridesmaid.
“I’m upset I’m wearing white at her wedding but kind of had to,” bridesmaid Aubrey Sulzbach said.
As for having children, Meg and Anthony said there will be a few but they’ll leave the Star Wars theme with the wedding. The newlyweds said Luke and Lea are out of the question when it comes to names.
