BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (KMSP) - With busy holiday shopping right around the corner, Mall of America announces their effort to increase security. The mall releasing this statement,
"Mall of America holds itself to the highest standards. We are a unique property - and we protect it that way. Our industry-leading practices include security training, K-9 units, specialty teams, crisis planning, and lockdown drills. The Mall has strong relationships with federal, state and local law enforcement including an on-site dedicated police unit. We continually take these actions to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
In light of recent events and the approaching holiday season we have implemented extra security precautions, some may be noticeable to guests and tenants - such as a more visible police and security presence - and others won't be. We work closely with our law enforcement partners to monitor critical information every day, and we adjust and enhance our security practices as needed."
MOA has extended holiday shopping hours including on Thanksgiving and Black Friday. The mall will be open on Nov. 26 from 6p.m. - Midnight and Nov. 27 Midnight - 10p.m.
