SWIFT COUNTY, Minn. (KMSP) - Saturday afternoon a 36-year-old man from Detroit Lakes was accidentally shot while deer hunting in Swift County.
Authorities say a deer ran in between other hunters that Robert Schlieman was hunting with and when one of the hunters thought that the deer was far enough away, he started shooting and Schlieman was then hit in the left abdomen. He was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital after being seen at the Appleton Area Health Services hospital. Schlieman is currently in stable condition.
Police say this is a reminder that when you’re hunting with others in a group, safety is the number one priority.
