Duluth has its first female mayor. Current city council president Emily Larson was elected in a landslide, replacing popular Mayor Don Ness, who decided not to seek re-election.
Old mayor is new mayor in Shakopee
Shakopee voters elected Bill Mars, who served as mayor from 2001 to 2003. He replaces Brad Tabke, who decided not to run after bringing thousands of new jobs to Minnesota’s fastest-growing city.
Big support for big school projects in ISD 196

Forest Lake school upgrades
Forest Lake voters narrowly approved a $143 million levy for building renovations, with 51 percent voting in favor.
East metro high school expansions rejected
In the South Washington County School District, voters approved Question 1, which adds $10.3 million ($525 per student) to the general fund annually for the next 10 years. Question 2 was also approved, funding the construction of a new Oltman Middle School, renovate the existing Oltman to become Nuevas Fronteras Spanish Immersion, and allowing for expansions to 3 middle schools: -- Cottage Grove, Lake and Woodbury.
Voters rejected Question 3, which requested funding for the construction of additions to the district’s 3 high schools.
