The annual Starkey Hearing Foundation’s So the World May Hear Awards Gala in St. Paul on Sunday brought together humanitarians, athletes, and celebrities to raise funds to help give the gift of hearing.
This year, Starkey Hearing Foundation honored George W. Bush, and pop star Katy Perry headlined the performances. In 2014, the gala raised nearly $9 million to support hearing health programs and charitable initiatives.
In addition to Katy Perry, this year’s roster of entertainers included Matt Nathanson, 2CELLOS, Jessica Sanchez and many others. Former President Bill Clinton, Gene Simmons, Larry Fitzgerald, Sidney Rice, and Verne Troyer are just a few of the recognizable names that showed up this year.
Previous guests have included Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Sir Richard Branson, Reba McEntire, Muhammad Ali, Garth Brooks, Sir Elton John, Tony Hawk, Billie Jean King, Gladys Knight, and John Legend.
As a member of Clinton Global Initiative, Starkey Hearing Foundation has pledged to provide more than one million hearing aids to people in need this decade and currently gives more than 175,000 hearing aids annually.
