September warmest on record

- September 2015 will now go down as the warmest on record for the state of Minnesota AND Wisconsin… records date back to 1895.  While the metro saw the 4th warmest September ever with temperatures 5.9° above the monthly average, the state as a whole was actually a touch warmer with a total of 6° above the average.  The 11 days in the 80’s was no small feat for the first official month of fall, combine that with overnight lows that were struggling just to drop into the 50’s in a lot of cases, and that’s a recipe for one very warm month.  But we weren’t the only ones basking in the warmth as the rest of the Upper Midwest was well above average as well.  In fact, only 3 states in the lower 48 (Washington, Alabama, and Georgia) were below average during the month of September.  The good news, with unusual warmth comes the potential for very dry conditions to develop, but that didn’t happen because of the near normal precipitation found across the region.  Check out some of the stats below…
