3 injured in shootings in downtown Minneapolis on Labor Day

Three people were injured in two separate shootings in downtown Minneapolis early Monday morning.

The first shooting occurred near 5th Street S and Hennepin Avenue S shortly before 2:00 a.m. Officers working off-duty witnessed the shooting immediately began chasing the suspect. He was arrested a short time later in a nearby parking lot. A gun was recovered at the scene.

Officers found a man and a woman suffering gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. The male victim suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his back, while the woman was shot in the hip. She is listed in stable condition.

The second shooting took place near 5th Street N and 2nd Avenue N at approximately 2:19 a.m. Officers heard multiple shots being fired and located a man being loaded into a vehicle with a gunshot wound that grazed his head.

The victim was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center with a non-life threatening injury.
