27-year-old man charged with murder for shooting outside Arnellia's in St. Paul

A 27-year-old St. Paul, Minn. man is being charged with second degree murder for shooting another man during a commotion outside Arnellia’s bar on Nov. 7.

Police responded to a report of a shooting outside the bar on University Avenue in St. Paul around 2:00 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a man with gunshot wounds in the parking lot. The victim was transported to Regions Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was identified as Ahmed Ismail, 25, of St. Paul. Friends told police Ismail wanted to go to Arnellia’s to see a show, according to the criminal complaint. As the group approached the bar, they observed a commotion on the sidewalk in front of the establishment.

Ismail approached the suspect, Nyemah Kiyee, to ask what was going on. Nyemah told Ismail to get back, before shooting him in the face.

Kiyee is being charged with one count of second degree murder.
