Edina PD arrest man believed responsible for more than 30 burglaries

- Edina Police have arrested a man they believe is responsible for more than 30 burglaries in the city since February.

Pierre Larsen, 28, of Minneapolis was arrested last week in Edina after a resident called 911 to report a person acting suspicious in their neighborhood. He was found driving a stolen vehicle and has been charged with motor vehicle theft, first degree burglary and credit card fraud, but could face additional charges.

According to the criminal complaint, on June 7, Larsen broke into a home on West 56th Street by cutting the screen of an open window while the owners were asleep. He stole a 40-inch television and wallet with several credit cards. He was caught on surveillance video using the cards at Walmart, Walgreens and a gas station. He also pawned the stolen television at a local pawn store.

In addition to the burglary, he is also being charged with stealing a Jeep Grand Cherokee from a home on Fairfax Avenue on April 22.

Authorities believe Larsen is also responsible more than 30 other burglaries and car thefts in the Edina area. Police say the majority of the thefts were crimes of opportunity, where he broke into an unlocked vehicle or home.

Edina Police are reminding residents to keep doors and windows locked when they are away from their house and car and to always call 911 immediately to report any suspicious activity.
