5 big summer road construction spots in the Twin Cities

- The Minnesota Department of Transportation has released the list you haven’t been waiting for: The 2017 summer road construction projects. The 211 projects carry a total price tag of $1 billion, and many of those projects are already underway. Major projects in the Twin Cities metro area this year include:

Interstate 94, Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center: Resurfacing on the interstate and repair to more than 50 bridges.

I-94, St. Paul to Maplewood: $46 million resurfacing and repairs project.

Interstate 35W/Lake Street in Minneapolis: A $50 million project on 35W will construct a MnPASS lane, reconstruct the road, construct a transit station, noise walls and retaining walls, build 6 bridges, replace 13 bridges and repair 3 bridges. In Minneapolis, the project runs from 43rd Street to 11th Avenue.

Highway 169: Reconstruct pavement, repair ramps, install noisewalls and pedestrian improvements, replace Nine Mile Creek bridge in Hopkins, construct culvert for new bike and pedestrian trail, lengthen lanes, construct new drainage system, construct visual barrier and landscape, install traffic management system and lighting.

I-694 in Arden Hills, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights and Little Canada: Construct 2-lane entrance ramp and auxiliary lane from US 10 to Lexington Avenue in Arden Hills; landscape from 0.9 miles east of Rice Street in Little Canada to 0.1 miles west of Lexington Avenue in Arden Hills.
