Charges: 8 lbs of marijuana mailed to Minnesota man from Oregon

- A Golden Valley, Minn. man had 8 pounds of marijuana and 100 grams of marijuana wax mailed to his home from a sender in Oregon, according to charges filed this week in Hennepin County. Jason Goodfallow, 36, is charged with 3 counts of intent to sell marijuana and 3 counts of possession of a large amount of marijuana.

According to the criminal complaint, a U.S. Postal Inspector intercepted a package addressed to “JR Hetrick” on Sept. 18. The package contained 4 pounds of marijuana and approximately 100 grams of marijuana wax. A similar package was intercepted on Sept. 21, and a review of postal records show packages were regularly sent to “JR Hetrick” at the same Golden Valley address from a sender in Oregon.

Officers with a Hennepin County task force planned to conduct a controlled delivery of the package, but no one was home. A receipt requesting post office pickup was left at the door, and detectives watched Goodfallow return home and immediately leave for the post office to claim the packages.

Goodfallow entered the post office in Golden Valley and requested the packages being held for “JR Hetrick.” He was arrested after leaving the post office with the packages, which contained 8 pounds of marijuana packaged into one-pound bricks, as well as 100 grams of marijuana wax.

Investigators searched Goodfallow’s home and recovered smaller amounts of marijuana, some psilocybin mushrooms, digital scales and $29,069 in cash. Text messages on a cell phone recovered during the search revealed Goodfallow was expecting delivery of a package that was delayed from Sept. 18 to Sept. 21.

In an interview with police, Goodfallow said the marijuana found in the house belonged to him, but said he had no idea the packages claimed at the post office contained marijuana. He also denied knowing who “JR Hetrick” was, and said he was only reading the name left on the postal receipt. Goodfallow told police he planned to bring the packages home and return them to the post office if the “mystery person” failed to claim them.

Goodfallow made his initial appearance Thursday afternoon in Hennepin County court. He was released on $20,000 bond.
