MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KMSP) - Minneapolis police are investigating after someone was robbed near the University of Minnesota’s West Bank campus on Tuesday afternoon. Public safety officials sent out a warning to students Wednesday morning.
The incident happened near the intersection of Riverside Avenue and Cedar Avenue South at approximately 1:30 p.m. According to the police report, the victim was on the sidewalk with his phone in his hand and two suspects approached him and one of them took the phone. The victim then chased after the suspects and the suspects then turned around and started punching the victims in the head and face.
While the crime did not occur on campus and the victim was not a student, the University of Minnesota is required to send out notifications when an incident occurs near campus.
