SHAKOPEE, Minn. (KMSP) - Charges have been filed against a Chaska, Minnesota man in the March 7 drive-by shooting of a Metro Mobility bus in Shakopee that injured the only passenger onboard. A second drive-by shooting incident in Prior Lake on June 17 led to the arrest of 28-year-old Luke Mackenzie Campbell, who is now charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, drive-by shooting and a firearms possession violation.
During their investigation of the Prior Lake shooting incident, Shakopee detectives received a tip that Campbell was also involved in the shooting of the Metro Mobility bus in Shakopee. Witnesses reported that Campbell has a history of shooting his gun while driving his motorcycle and his vehicle, and had been observed to pull his gun and shoot from the bridge on Highway 169 multiple times.
On March 7, 2016, witnesses reported the suspect shot his gun from his vehicle. Traffic camera surveillance showed a vehicle in the area at the time of the bus shooting that is similar in size, shape and color to the vehicle owned by Campbell. Cell phone records also put Campbell in the area of the bus shooting that day.
