BEMIDJI, Minn. (KMSP) - A 38-year-old man was arrested after a 2-year-old girl was found dead at a home on Sunday in Bemidji, Minn.
According to the Bemidji Police Department, emergency crews responded to a report of a child not breathing at a residence on Lake Avenue around 12:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a body of a deceased 2-year-old girl.
"During the initial investigation and execution of a search warrant, Nathan Daniel Jackson, age 38, of Bemidji was arrested for second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter," Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin said Wednesday.
Authorities did not reveal the relationship between the young child and Jackson.
The body of the 2-year-old girl has been sent to the Ramsey County Medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
The case remains under investigation as the Bemidji Police Department continues to collect information. Formal charges from the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office are pending.
