EAGAN, Minn. (KMSP) - The man killed in an officer involved shooting has been identified as 37-year-old Justin Kulhanek-Derks.
The incident happened on August 29 when Eagan police officers responded to several calls that a man was shooting a handgun outside of the Forest Ridge Apartments.
Once police arrived, they were immediately fired upon by Kulhanek-Derks, two officers then fired back.
Kulhanek-Derks died of a gunshot wound to the head.
The officers have been identified as, Sgt. Nathan Tennessen who has worked for the Eagan Police Department for 18 years and Officer Alison Burstein who has been with the department for four years. Both are on administrative leave.
The BCA says the officers were not wearing body cameras and investigators say they aren’t aware of any video from the incident.
