St. Paul faces tough budget decisions

- The City of St. Paul says the state’s continuing budget divide is holding up $3 million in funding that may force them to make tough choices.

Without the $3 million in local government aid, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman says the city would be forced to make cuts to police and city programs.

The mayor wrote the following letter to St. Paul City Council members on Wednesday outlining the city's needs:

 

The other option for the city if they don’t receive the state funding is to raise the tax levy in 2017 from the originally proposed 4 percent hike to 7 percent.
