FARIBAULT, Minn. (KMSP) - The Faribault High School football team will play the rest of its season without four of its starters after the players were injured in car crash Thursday night.
Starting football players and high school juniors Henry Sanchez, Chase Ernste, Alex Linse and Lamont Anderson were all injured in a car accident on the way home from a girls volleyball game against Mayo High School in Rochester, Minnesota. Police said the boys were riding in an SUV when they somehow collided with a semi-truck tractor trailer around 10 p.m. near the intersection of 24th Ave. NW and Park Dr. NW in Owatonna.
The driver of the semi was not hurt, but three of the players remain in intensive care. The fourth is recovering in a trauma unit.
“We know there will be some tough days ahead,” Ken Hubert, Faribault High School activities director said. “We’re hopeful all of them will be back and active in some way for the Falcons.”
Friday night's football game against Mankato East High School was postponed to Saturday at 3 p.m. in the wake of the news.
Authorities are still investigating what exactly caused the crash.
