Robbinsdale police named the officer who shot an 18-year-old high school student after an "unwanted person" call was made at an apartment complex early Thursday evening.

Sergeant Thomas Rothfork has been employed with the Robbinsdale Police Department since 1995. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave, which is standard practice. The incident is still under investigation by the Hennepin County sheriff's office.

Robbinsdale police responded to 3755 Hubbard Avenue North at 5:41 p.m., where they found a woman with a knife. Police said Tania Harris, 18, was shot by police as she chased another woman while wielding a large knife. Harris was listed in stable condition at an area hospital with two gunshot wounds to her abdomen. No officers were injured during the incident. Harris has been charged with second-degree assault and bail was set at $50,000.
