Wisconsin State Trooper dead after standoff in Fond du Lac

A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper and a suspect are dead after a standoff in Fond du Lac, Wis. on Tuesday afternoon, about an hour north of Milwaukee.

WBAY Action 2 News reported police held a press conference at 10 p.m. Tuesday night and said the trooper was trying to contact a person that matched the description of a bank robber in the area. Police said there was a gunfire exchange at about 5:30 p.m. and confirmed the trooper and suspect were both killed.

There was a bank robbery at an area bank around 4:30 p.m. in the 200 block of North Peters Avenue, and another bank robbery in Wausaukee around 2:00 p.m. that involved a SWAT Team at a scene nearby. It is unclear if the incidents are related.
