This morning, Sen. Al Franken was in New Hope presenting a Purple Heart to the family of a Minnesota soldier who died in Vietnam nearly a half-century ago.
The ceremony took place in the home of Stan Noggle, whose brother, Army Specialist Stephen Noggle, was killed in a firefight in 1967. During that battle, Noggle is credited with taking action that saved the lives of many fellow soldiers.
Stan Noggle, now in his 60s, was 18 when his brother died. He accepted the Purple Heart on his family's behalf. Franken worked with Noggle family members and Army officials to secure the medal, which Stephen earned but was never awarded.
