- Two Winona Police officers are on administrative leave for an officer-involved shooting that injured a person early Saturday morning.

According to early investigation, at about 12:15 a.m., two Winona Police officers pulled over a vehicle for erratic driving on the 1800 block of Garvin Heights in Winona.

At one point, the two officers fired their guns, hitting the person once.

The person then left in his vehicle. A short police chase ensued, lasting five miles until deputies used stop sticks at Highway 43 and I-90 to end the chase.

The person refused to leave the vehicle. After a hour of negotiations, the person left the vehicle and was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a hospital.

The person was booked into Winona County Jail.

Investigators found a .45 caliber handgun in the subject's car.

The BCA is investigating this incident.
