A year ago, St. Patrick's Day appeared endangered in St. Paul.
The idea was floated to move the parade to Saturday in hopes more families could attend -- though for many, skipping school or work on St. Paddy's is as much of a tradition as green beer.
For this year, the compromise is to have an Irish Fest on Saturday, with parade still happening on Tuesday.
No one can say for sure if the city's pressure to move the parade will return, but revelers out and about today seem to think they've won.
But based on the Irish spirit we witnessed today -- check out some of the sights and sounds for yourself in the video at the top of this post -- we're confident the Irish, even those who are only so in spirit, would still find a way to celebrate on Tuesday regardless of what the city decides.
