MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - With summertime weather now in full swing, roadwork around the state is following suit. While thousands of Minnesotans hit the roadways, construction projects across the state will cause plenty of slowdowns and jam ups.
Lane closures can be expected on at least part of every major highway from the Twin Cities to the North Country with MNDOT warning of significant delays on Interstate 94. Several construction projects will dot the road from the Metro to Moorhead. The worst will likely be as you are coming back from cabin country Sunday and Monday as eastbound 94 is down to one lane around Collegeville, Minn.
Getting to Lake Mille Lacs won’t be a picnic either with both directions down to 1 lane north of Milaca. Even I-35 to Duluth will have issues as lanes are shifted and speeds are reduced from Pine City to Hinckley.
Going south isn’t much better with the continued 169 closure from St. Peter to Mankato.
The metro though won’t have to deal with any new MAJOR closures, however parts of 35E and 94 will have lane closures. Work on 494 and highway 100 will still be going strong, but these freeways will be open at least. Highway 280 will be the only new closure over the weekend from 35E to Broadway.
