Charges: Days Inn guest in St. Paul raped by head of housekeeping

- The head of housekeeping at a Days Inn in St. Paul, Minn. has been charged with raping a hotel guest in her room, with her 9-month-old baby present. Nolasco Lopez Ramirez, 25, is charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, the guest heard a knock at the door on the afternoon of April 23, looked out the peephole, and saw a hotel employee standing at the door. The employee, identified in the complaint as Lopez Ramirez, told the guest he was there to check out the room. The woman propped open the door with a baby stroller, sat down and began doing homework.

Lopez Ramirez made the bed and told the guest they had received loud noise complaints from other guests. He then stood next to the bed and leaned on the nightstand with his feet crossed. The guest said Lopez Ramirez was getting closer to her and she told him to back up because it was making her feel uncomfortable.

The guest got up and went to the bathroom to gather the dirty towels for exchange as a way to get Lopez Ramirez to leave. But Lopez Ramirez allegedly followed the guest into the bathroom, closed the door, and raped her.

Lopez Ramirez left the bathroom and tripped over a garbage bag on his way out. The guest saw 3 members of the housekeeping service outside her door and screamed at the top of her lungs, “This man raped me!”

The front desk clerk told police that Lopez Ramirez had been acting “really touchy and weird” lately. She said he had asked her if she was going to strip for him for his birthday.

Lopez Ramirez admitted to drinking from a bottle of whiskey left behind in a room, but denied ever having sex with or raping a hotel guest. Lopez Ramirez will make his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon in St. Paul.
