COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, Minn. (KMSP) - A teen is in critical condition after riding on the hood of a vehicle, also known as "car surfing," in Columbia Heights on Tuesday night, Anoka County Sheriff's Office confirmed.
According to police, officers responded to the 2100 block of Forest Drive on a call of a male unresponsive in the roadway around 10 p.m. Upon arrival, police discovered a group of teens had who been driving around in the residential area nearby.
"Two of the teens, both males, decided to ride on the hood of the vehicle," the Anoka County Sheriff's Office stated. "Shortly after jumping on the hood of the car, one of the males, a 17-year-old from Columbia Heights fell off the car while it was traveling approximately 20 mph and struck the roadway."
The teen was then transferred to North Memorial where he is currently listed in critical condition.
