Player says Winona State coach made drunken sexual advances

- Winona State basketball coach Mike Leaf resigned after making drunken sexual advances toward a current player, according to an exclusive interview with the Winona Daily News. The player spoke to the newspaper on Thursday, with 6 teammates at his side for support.

The player said he filed a formal complaint with Winona State University the morning after the June 20 incident.

According to the Winona Daily News, the player spent an evening at Leaf’s home, where he was served alcohol. Later in the evening, the player went home, but Leaf allegedly followed the player to his apartment, brought him back to his house and made unwanted advances while the player was lying in Leaf’s bed. In late June, Mike Leaf walked away from the program he had been a part of for 28 years without much of an explanation, and the school didn't give a reason either. But after a recent public records request, school leaders confirmed they are now investigating a complaint against the former coach.

Leaf led the Winona State Warriors to two NCAA Division II national championships and is the winningest men's basketball coach in school history.
