1 killed, 1 in life-threatening condition after crash on I-94 in Minneapolis

A man has died and another was critically injured in a crash on Interstate 94 Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened around 2:15 p.m. Saturday. The Chevy Trailblazer was exiting southbound I-94 at 4th Street when it veered off of the roadway to the right for an unknown reason.

The Trailblazer then rolled, fatally ejecting one of the occupants.

There were three occupants in the car, but one fled the scene. Authorities do not know the identity of the driver.

The man who died has been identified as 57-year-old Kimel Marquet Sykes of Minneapolis. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Another man, 37-year-old David Jerome Bryant of Minneapolis, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.

It is unclear if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
