(KMSP) - A 33-year-woman has died and a 4-year-old boy is in critical condition after a crash involving a semi truck Wednesday night in northern Minnesota.
The St. Louis County sheriff's office responded to a call of a crash with injuries in Gnesen Township where they found a car that sustained major damage. A 4-year-old boy was still belted in and had to be extricated and transported to the hospital.
The 33-year-old woman, Natalie Anne Alvar, who was determined to be the driver, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to authorities, it appears the car crossed the center line while traveling on Normanna Road, causing a head-on collision with a semi truck that was carrying a load of timber.
The crash is still under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
