Congratulations to Christian England-Sullivan, who walked out of United Hospital in St. Paul on Friday just 44 days after suffering a brain stem stroke. The 22-year-old University of Minnesota-Duluth student wasn't supposed to walk for at least a year after suffering the type stroke that kills 80 percent of people.
"As much as people say, ‘Stay strong,' emotionally, stay strong, because I'm pretty sure most of my recovery has been because I have emotionally stayed strong," England-Sullivan said.
After leaving the hospital, his next steps are physical, occupational and speech therapy. He's already making progress with his speech and movement, and hopes to return to school soon.
