Pair of Univ. of Minn. students devise compact EpiPen alternative

- A pair of University of Minnesota students have devised a streamlined EpiPen alternative that’s smaller and easier to carry.

Tyler Ebert and Chris Kuehn dreamed up the AdrenaCard, which uses the same epinephrine auto-injector technology, but it’s about the size of a few playing cards, encouraging allergy patients to carry it with them at all times with ease.

Plus, according to testimonials the students have gathered, some patients say they feel self-conscious taking out a bulky device in public. Ebert and Kuehn wanted to squelch that fear.

The AdrenaCard is now undergoing testing by the Food and Drug Administration.
