Woman, 28, killed in I-35E and Grand hit-and-run

A 28-year-old woman died after being struck by an unknown vehicle Friday night at I-35E and Grand Avenue near downtown St. Paul.

I-35E southbound was closed for two hours Friday night after Emily Boone's body was discovered south of Grand Avenue before 10 p.m. Boone is from Maple Grove but lives in St. Paul.

According to Minnesota State Patrol, preliminary investigation indicated that Boone got onto I-35E on foot but may have been crawling when she was hit. Someone called 911 after finding her in the left shoulder of the left lane and she was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear if alcohol was involved during the incident.

"She was not upright when she was struck by the vehicle, she was in a crawling position. That's why we are not sure if the driver that hit her may have known they hit a person," State Patrol spokeswoman Tiffani Nielson said.

The State Patrol is asking for the public's help in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or was in the area at the time of the crash is asked to call (651) 582-1500.
