What to expect after the snowy morning mess

The Twin Cities woke up to a fresh dash of fluffy snow Friday morning, but light snow tapers to just flurries as the morning progresses. Most areas will stay at one inch or less for the day.

Slow, slippery commute

Icy roads covered with a dusting of overnight snow caused hundreds of spinouts and crashes Friday morning. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, there were 305 crashes and 150 spinouts in the metro between 6:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. You can see a map of live traffic conditions at myfox9.com/traffic

Twin Cities forecast

Mainly cloudy with peeks of filtered sun possible as we warm-up to the mid 20s Friday afternoon. Saturday morning clouds lead to some afternoon sun as we try for 21 in the metro, but MUCH colder single digits across northwestern Minnesota. We'll all take the arctic plunge with highs close to zero for some of us by Sunday.
