Somali artist likened to Bob Dylan in town for Minneapolis show

Somali recording artist Aar Maanta, a man some liken to Bob Dylan, arrived at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Thursday for a performance at The Cedar on April 11.

Aar Maanta arrived from London on Thursday afternoon. The singer-songwriter has been called the voice of his generation. Some of his lyrics talk about the need for young people to turn away from radicalism, and rediscover their Somali heritage.

The program is put on by The Cedar and Augsburg College, called Midnimo: Music for Unity, Campus and Community. It's intended to build knowledge and understanding of Somali Muslim culture through music. He will also participate in a lecture at Augsburg.
