Snapped power pole causes 4,000 morning outages in NW metro

Thousands of people woke up to power outages in the Twin Cities northwest metro Wednesday morning.

A power pole snapped just north of Highway 101, knocking out power to more than 4,000 households in Rogers, Maple Grove and other cities. Xcel Energy crews restored power to about half of those customers, with the rest of the outages expected to be resolved by about 8 a.m.
