Puddle of Mudd frontman arrested in Minnesota with .31 BAC

Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin has been in trouble with the law in other parts of the country, but on Sunday morning he found himself in the Renville County Jail.

The 43-year-old “Blurry”singer was booked at 4:47 a.m. for refusing a DWI test and fleeing a police officer. The Renville County Sheriff’s Department said Scantlin was first spotted speeding in a 30 mile-an-hour zone and led police on a high-speed chase up to 100 miles per hour. Scantlin eventually stopped at Highway 212 and County Road 16, and charges said he smelled of alcohol, was slurring his words, and recorded a .310 BAC during a preliminary breathalyzer test. He refused to submit to further testing.

It’s unclear exactly what he was doing driving around in Renville County, but his band did perform on Friday at Halfway Jam in Royalton, Minn., more than 100 miles north of the incident.

This isn't Scantlin's first arrest in recent months. He was arrested at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee in April for disorderly conduct, and two months earlier, arrested for riding the oversized luggage carousel at the Denver International Airport. He was ultimately charged with trespassing and avoided federal charges in the Denver incident. Scantlin was also arrested for drug possession in 2012 and domestic violence in 2013.

Puddle of Mudd is slated to play their next show at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas on July 31.
