Police: Barron Co. teacher had 'inappropriate contact' with student

A Barron County fifth-grade teacher has apparently been having "inappropriate contact" with a 17-year-old female student, sheriff's officials said.

On May 1, the Barron County Sheriff's Department received a report from the Cumberland School District that Courtney Jensen, 25, had been having "inappropriate contact" with the student. Cumberland, Wis. is about 22 miles south of Spooner.

Jensen has been placed on administrative leave by the Cumberland School District and cooperated with the investigation, police said. She will appear in court on Wednesday at 10 a.m. for formal charges by the Barron County District Attorney's Office.

The case is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Cumberland Police Department or the Barron County Sheriff's Department.
