Guilty plea in deadly shooting of Cottage Grove, Minn. teacher

A teenager entered a guilty plea Wednesday morning to the murder of a popular Cottage Grove, Minn. teacher. Bailey Garcia, 19, pled guilty to unintentional second-degree murder charges.

Garcia shot and killed 46-year-old David Frigaard in January, shortly after Frigaard had closed the bar he owned in Willernie, Minn. Garcia told investigators he had gotten into a heated argument with his father earlier in the evening and left the house with a gun and ammunition.

Garcia initially admitted shooting at a "few deer" at the intersection of Stillwater Road and Mahtomedi Avenue, then admitted that he was aiming at a truck. After firing the rifle, he fled the area, because he didn't know if he hit the driver.

Garcia will be sentenced in August.
