Grand jury indicts Pierre Collins with premeditated murder in death of son, Barway

A grand jury indicted Crystal, Minn. father Pierre Collins for the first-degree premeditated murder of his 10-year-old son, Barway.

The grand jury's decision came down Thursday. Collins was arrested April 13 and initially charged with second-degree murder in the boy's death.

When he was found on April 11, Barway's feet were bound together with duct tape and a piece of tape was wrapped around his torso. Barway's body was found about 10 feet from shore, at North Mississippi Regional Park, near 53rd Avenue N. and Lyndale Avenue N. in Minneapolis. A knife was found 5 to 10 yards from where his body was recovered. He was last seen alive outside his Crystal apartment on March 18.

Collins waived a court appearance on the indictment. His next court hearing is slated to take place July 7.
