Forest Lake alpine team involved in crash en route to Giant's Ridge

As the Forest Lake alpine ski team was headed to Giants Ridge in Biwabik, Minn. for Wednesday's state championships, coaches and team members were involved in a two-vehicle crash in Cloquet. None of the coaches or skiers were hurt, but a passenger in the other car was killed.

According to the Forest Lake Times, coach Grant Lindemer was driving a Suburban north on Highway 33 in Cloquet around 10:15 a.m. when 33-year-old Shawn Adrian driving a Toyota Camry was headed south, and while turning on I-35, apparently drove into Lindemer's path.

Lindemer said there were six members of the boys' alpine team in the Suburban along with assistant coach Sarah Ellefson. Lindemer called 911 and all of the skiers were checked out at Cloquet Hospital. None were injured and were brought to Giants Ridge in a different vehicle.

One of the passengers in Adrian's car was killed but the State Patrol will not release the victim's identity until Wednesday. Adrian's condition is not listed.
