Ex-Minneapolis cop charged with impersonation, meth possession

A retired Minneapolis police officer has been charged with fifth-degree drug possession and impersonating a police officer after he was found with meth in a Bloomington hotel room.

On Feb. 16, police were conducting routine hotel checks at the Northwood Hotel at 1225 West 78th Street and hotel employees told them a guest, Lee Alan Meili, was acting suspicious. Meili still had his old Minneapolis PD identification and had used it to rent the room, charges say. Meili admitted to using the ID, and officers evicted him from the room. Upon clearing it, they found a hypodermic needle and a baggie with suspected methamphetamine.

Meili was arrested and field-tested positive for meth and is currently in custody.
