Charges dropped for 4 of 5 Pedal Pub squirt gun attackers

Charges have been dropped for 4 of the 5 men engaged in a water balloon and squirt gun attack on a Pedal Pub in downtown Minneapolis.

On the evening of May 23, 6 off-duty Burnsville officers were riding the Pedal Pub that was attacked at 1st Avenue and 4th Street. The officers detained the man until Minneapolis police, in-uniform, and arrested Jason Leonard Carlton, Mark William Dean, Kurtis Wayne Johnson, Francis Wayne Bellanger and John Davis Rock Jr.

The group initially faced charges for assault and disorderly conduct, but all have been dropped with the exception of Rock Jr., whose charges are still pending as the city attorney reviews the case. A charging decision is expected to come soon.

Some of the men who were restrained claimed the off-duty officers were unnecessarily rough.
