Alcohol likely involved in UW-River Falls student death, police aren't 'pointing any fingers'

The River Falls Police Department believe alcohol was involved in the death of an underage UW-River Falls student whose body was pulled from the Kinnickinnic River on Monday.

"As part of a responsible investigation into his death, we're looking into the circumstances surrounding it," River Falls Police Chief Roger Leque said.

Chief Leque said investigators are looking into how Bobby Sontag got the alcohol, and are "not pointing any fingers" at this time.

Sontag, a Shafer, Minn. native, was last seen on the 400 Block of South Main Street at approximately 2 a.m. on Friday, May 1. According to police, he was walking home with a friend from the bar and alcohol was believed to be involved. While walking home, the two were separated and the friend went on his own way.
